Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

Summit Studios is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, and keyboard-only navigation. We believe access to information about our studio, services, and booking process should not depend on ability, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time project.

Conformance standard

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.

Accessibility features on this site

This website was designed and built with accessibility in mind. Measures currently in place include:

  • Semantic structure: every page uses a logical heading hierarchy with a single H1, landmark regions, and properly labeled navigation.
  • Keyboard operability: all interactive elements, including the menu, image gallery and lightbox, accordions, and forms, can be reached and operated with a keyboard. The lightbox supports the Escape key to close and arrow keys to move between images.
  • Visible focus indicators: a high-contrast outline appears on every focusable element when navigating by keyboard.
  • Reduced motion support: when your device's "reduce motion" setting is on, scroll animations, parallax, and ambient motion are disabled while all content remains fully available.
  • Text alternatives: meaningful images carry descriptive alt text; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • Color and contrast: text colors were chosen for legibility against the site's dark backgrounds, and information is never conveyed by color alone.
  • Scalable text: the site is built with relative units and remains usable when text is enlarged up to 200% or when pages are zoomed.
  • Labeled forms: every form field has a programmatically associated label, and the quote form confirms submission in a way assistive technology can announce.

Known limitations

Despite our efforts, some parts of the site rely on third-party services that we do not fully control:

  • The embedded Google Map on our contact page is provided by Google and may present accessibility barriers within the embedded frame. The street address is always provided in accessible text alongside it.
  • Links to external platforms such as Instagram and Google reviews lead to sites whose accessibility we cannot control.

Where a third-party component creates a barrier, we provide the same information in an accessible form on our own pages, or we will provide it on request.

Compatibility

The site is tested with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge, on desktop and mobile devices, and is built to work with common assistive technologies including VoiceOver and NVDA. The site does not require a specific screen resolution, orientation, or input method.

Feedback and contact

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you encounter a barrier, have difficulty accessing any content, or need information from this site in an alternative format, please contact us and we will do our best to respond within two business days:

When you contact us, please describe the page you were on, the problem you experienced, and the browser and assistive technology you were using. This statement is reviewed and updated as the site evolves.

The physical studio

Accessibility matters offline too. The studio at 622 Olive St offers ground-floor access with no stairs, a full-size roll-up door entrance, and two private bathrooms with ADA access. If you or a member of your production have specific access needs, tell us when booking and we will plan the space accordingly. See the studio page for the full list of amenities.
